25 Random Things About Me

My buddy Susan Davis tagged me for this meme over on Facebook...and I do whatever she tells me, so:

Rules:
Once you've been tagged (and please consider yourself tagged if you're reading this), you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you (please feel free post your list in the comments section if you don't blog yourself). At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged (if you want to). You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it's because I want to know more about you.

1. Earl Gray tea and cilantro taste soapy to me.
2. My favorite song is “Please Mr. Postman.”
3. I didn’t rebel against my mother till my 30s. Fortunately for both of us, I’m over it now.
4. I have a lot of Jewish friends.
5. I have uncanny intuition.
6. I have profound respect and admiration for the person my 14 year-old-daughter is becoming.
7. I was not a dog person before Goose.
8. According to my husband, I don’t know how to properly make a bed.
9. I don’t like being around drunk people. Tipsy people are okay.
10. I’d be fine with canceling our cable TV package, but not DSL.
11. I love road trips and hotel toiletries.
12. I’m embarrassed that I’ve never been to Paris.
13. I’m tougher than I look.
14. I thrive on creative collaboration.
15. My favorite color is green.
16. My cooking is getting better.
17. I can’t believe it took me so long to discover Pilates.
18. I prefer to be blond.
19. I like handmade textures.
20. I wish I had nicer handwriting.
21. I’m a terrible speller.
22. I swear by Dr. Sarno’s The Mindbody Prescription.
23. I generally get what I want and when I don’t, it’s almost always for the best.
24. I have two, maybe three, dead brothers.
25. I’m an optimist.

I love this idea. I make a motion that from now on, CVs should only include 25 random things. To hell with overstating accomplishments and value. Go straight for the "I like my egg yolks firmish, yet with a bit of runny in the middle".

1. See egg comment above.
2. When I'm alone in the car I play music at an earsplitting volume and sing loudly and badly.
3. I love reading non-fiction.
4. I want to live abroad for a year.
5. I clean, sometime obsessively, to impose order on an unruly life
6. When we travel I miss my dog beyond reason.
7. I regret not having children. This puts a lot of pressure on my dog.
8. I grew up on a chicken farm and couldn't wait to leave.
9. I would love to raise chickens.
10. In August of 1969, my then-boyfriend, Larry Gunderson, got me a ticket to Woodstock for my 17th birthday. My mother wouldn't let me go. I still hate her for that.
11. I overuse commas.
12. I'm terrible at math.
13. I have uncannily good instincts in real estate.
14. I have no patience for fools
15. I wish I had better hair.
16. I have a weakness for great bread and great cheese.
17. I can't start the day without coffee.
18. I have an over-developed sense of smell. My husband thinks I'm a reincarnated dog.
19. I'm very sensitive to animal cruelty issues, but I want a mink coat.
20. I only cook on the weekends.
21. I don't like watching gravity have it's way with my body.
22. I've become more confident with age.
23. I'm first generation American. My father's family lived in the same town in Germany for 300 years.
24. I wasn't allowed to have pets when I was young.
25. I believe in better living through pharmaceuticals.

And by the way, for my new business website, my partner and I are planning something quite clever for the bios, just as you've suggested. Stay tuned.

I've been giving this some thought and will do it. Never done a meme before. I'm with Nancy F--not sure if I have 25 things I'm want to share with the www.

Loved your list, Linda. I don't think Phoebe minds the extra pressure, and you ave fabulous hair.

G - I loved your list too. This was a very cathartic exercise, somehow, don't you think? I can think of dozens of situations where a list-of-25 could make a big difference in the outcome; first dates, coop board interviews, vice-presidential campaign trail, etc.
