Are you in maple country? My first guess would be that they're for syruping.
Maybe so. I like that idea better than that they're big tubs of butter.
Crocks like the ones on the left I think were often used for brining and other storing/preserving, like salting. Not sure about the jugs. The Keno bro's on AR got their collecting start with this stuff--it's called salt glazed stoneware. Check this out.What an awesome find!
